To ensure your clothing lasts for a lifetime, we advocate for mindful garment care. In this endeavor, we’ve partnered with Storey, an innovative digital wardrobe application, designed to extend the life of your clothing and promote more sustainable fashion practices. Do you ever find yourself with a closet full of clothes yet feel like you have nothing to wear, with overflowing drawers that struggle to close? This is a common predicament, and Storey offers a compelling solution.
What is Storey?
Storey’s core mission is to digitize wardrobes, making clothing more accessible, shareable, searchable, and ultimately, more sellable. Imagine it as a modern-day interpretation of Cher’s iconic virtual closet from the movie Clueless. The platform allows you to upload your entire wardrobe, curate specific collections, and connect with a community of like-minded fashion enthusiasts.
By providing easy access and complete visibility into your existing clothing, Storey helps prevent accidental duplicate purchases and allows you to track which items you wear most frequently. It’s a widely acknowledged fact that a significant portion of our wardrobes, often exceeding 50%, goes unworn. For those interested in establishing a capsule wardrobe, Storey serves as an excellent starting point. The app also employs technology to inspire more thoughtful and creative outfit combinations through its intelligent outfit recommendation engine. Furthermore, the Storey community actively promotes sustainable fashion by enabling users to list items for sale or even for borrowing directly from their profiles, thereby documenting and encouraging the circularity of garments.

What do you love about living in San Francisco?
San Francisco holds a profound significance for me. Beyond being my birthplace and the place where I spent my formative years on the Peninsula, San Francisco and the greater Bay Area offer an unparalleled experience. The city itself pulses with vibrant energy and a unique character, evident in its world-class culinary scene, the diverse and enriching exhibits at its numerous cultural institutions, and its thriving underground music landscape. The pervasive culture of creativity, open-mindedness, and a spirit of adventure defines those who choose to make this region their home. Complementing the urban dynamism, the Bay Area boasts exceptional recreational opportunities, including championship golf courses in Pebble Beach, stunning hiking trails with breathtaking vistas in Marin County, renowned wineries in Healdsburg and beyond, and a picturesque coastline dotted with charming towns, each with its own distinct history and attractions. It truly is a locale where one can pursue any interest, enjoying perfect weather throughout the year. There is indeed much to cherish here.
What is your favorite thing about traveling?
My most cherished aspect of traveling is the invaluable experience of building connections and fostering a sense of community wherever I go. I dedicate considerable time to engaging with locals and fellow travelers who share similar interests. Regardless of whether these connections lead to future visits or shared plans, I deeply value the opportunity to understand diverse cultures and share experiences with people from all walks of life. It’s crucial to distinguish between being a tourist and being a traveler, and I strive to embody the latter. I invest significant effort in meticulously curating travel lists—a practice my friends are well aware of, as I’m always happy to share my approximately 80 Google Maps lists—and I find immense joy in discovering hidden gems around the globe to share with my network.
What is the best destination you’ve traveled to recently?
Our recent journey to Placencia, Belize, was an extraordinary experience that I wholeheartedly recommend to everyone. Our days were filled with immersing ourselves in the local wildlife, engaging in bird watching, exploring the “Monkey River” by boat in hopes of spotting howler monkeys and manatees, snorkeling alongside nurse sharks and rays, and on a particularly rainy day, forging new friendships at a local bowling alley while enjoying numerous rounds of Rummy 500. Following a period of visiting locales that were admittedly less focused on outdoor activities, such as Saint Tropez and Tulum, we’ve recently developed an enthusiasm for ecotourism. Our future travel plans include exploring the wildlife of Kenya.

How would you describe your personal style?
I dedicate considerable thought to defining and articulating my personal style, having experimented with various methods to categorize it. I’ve explored the Kibbe Body Type system to understand which silhouettes best complement my physique, identifying as a soft classic with a preference for elongated lines. I’ve also attempted the “three-word method” to distill my style essence, though I consistently find it challenging to limit myself to just three words, often oscillating between polished, playful, feminine, elegant, and dramatic. Additionally, I’ve utilized seasonal color palettes to identify hues that enhance my natural complexion, categorized as a warm/deep spring, with a leaning towards lighter neutrals and greens. However, this structured approach often takes a backseat when I encounter a piece that truly resonates with me, even if it deviates from the prescribed color or shape guidelines, or clashes with my existing wardrobe. Ultimately, I believe style should be a source of enjoyment, embracing the unexpected. While many of us gravitate towards certain shapes, colors, and styles, at its heart, I find immense pleasure in the act of dressing up and experimenting. I embrace wearing my distinctive custom cowboy boots during summer evenings in Park City and adopt a 1950s flight attendant aesthetic when visiting Italy. The joy derived from wearing an outfit often outweighs considerations of strict flattery.
Where are some of your favorite places to shop for clothes?
My shopping preferences often align with the season and the intended activity. For summer attire, I frequently turn to brands such as Zimmermann, Agua Bendita, Ulla Johnson, and Johanna Ortiz. During spring, I favor Chloe, Aime Leon Dore, Celine, and Gucci. For autumn, I spend considerable time browsing Maje, Sandro, ALC, and Ralph Lauren. In winter, my choices tend to be Jenni Kayne, Frame, Acne, Sezane, Allsaints, and Valentino. I find Ronny Kobo offers exquisite options for wedding guest attire, and I have a particular fondness for shoes from Prada and Gucci. I also dedicate a significant amount of time and resources to acquiring vintage pieces from The Real Real. Additionally, I enjoy supporting emerging designers and artisans, such as By Fede for my summer jewelry and Sullivan for their chic neutral sets.

What’s your favorite piece in your wardrobe right now?
The item I find myself reaching for almost daily is my white Gucci Jackie bag. A friend aptly described it as “Ellie in bag form.” Its silhouette is both classic and sophisticated, and given my frequent use of lighter colors throughout the year, it has become an indispensable accessory. As autumn approaches, I anticipate a surge in the use of my favored Acne coat. I had an extensive search for this particular coat after it sold out last year, and I was delighted when I received a notification of its restock. Its design features a perfect long, loose silhouette that beautifully balances slimmer evening wear and adds an element of unexpected style to more casual street looks.
Do you have any packing tips?
I cannot emphasize enough how invaluable Storey is for organizing packing lists when preparing for a trip. I take pride in my packing efficiency and my ability to utilize pieces in multiple ways while traveling. While I don’t strictly adhere to the concept of capsule wardrobes, perhaps because I’m less inclined towards wearing basic items, travel presents an excellent opportunity to rediscover garments. It allows me to find, for instance, four novel ways to style an item I haven’t worn in a while, rekindling my appreciation for it. I generally aim to pack no more than five pairs of shoes and four bags, even for extended trips lasting two to three months. These are typically the items that pose the greatest logistical challenge when moving between locations, although this is always a personal struggle given my extensive collection. More specific recommendations include: a scarf can be ingeniously transformed into a top in approximately 30 different ways during the summer, especially when paired with the right necklace to secure it. Always pack smaller bags inside larger ones. Maintain a dedicated travel bag stocked with all your toiletries and travel-sized makeup essentials. Simplify your jewelry selection, bringing only one or two statement pieces, as bringing more often results in them remaining unworn. A steadfast rule my partner and I adhere to is to NEVER forget a swimsuit, regardless of the destination.
